Race Team

When young sailors have mastered all the basic sailing skills they can satisfy their desire for competition by joining the CBYC Racing Team. Under the guidance of highly skilled coaches, sailors prepare themselves for the challenge of sailing regattas in Optimist Dinghies, CFJs, 420s, and Lasers. our sailors will be prepared for Local Competition as well as Competition on the National and International levels.

Equipment

Optimist:The Optimist has been designed to be safe, durable and competitive. The skills the Optimist fosters can be directly translated into other classes later on.

CFJ: The Club FJ is a tough, agile performer available with or without a spinnaker package. It is a fantastic choice for clubs, schools, and universities looking to introduce young sailors to double-handed sailing. More collegiate sailing teams in North America sail the Club FJ than any other double-handed sailboat.

420: The Club 420 enables young sailors to learn teamwork, trapeze and spinnaker techniques that simply can't be learned in single-handed boats. Safe for beginning sailors and quick enough to keep collegiate All-Americans interested, sailors graduating from the Optimist class will find the C420 to be manageable and a lot of fun.

Laser: The Laser is a challenging boat that rewards athleticism, subtle steering and trimming techniques, as well as tactical excellence. It is a singlehanded Olympic class boat, also sailed at club, national and international levels.
